I’m Nick Logan. I shoot video and photography across Mackay, the Whitsundays and the Isaac and Bowen Basin region, and I’m the one who turns up — there’s no team, no subcontractor, no handover between the person you spoke to and the person on site.

It started with recreational flying and photography and turned into a business when people began asking what it would cost. It’s been a commercial operation for several years now.

I have been flying for eight years and shooting on the ground for three.

Licensing and insurance

I hold a Remote Pilot Licence, a Remotely Piloted Aircraft Operator’s Certificate and an Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate, and I carry $20 million public liability cover.

In practice that means I can fly close to people, over populous areas and inside controlled airspace, with the approvals sorted before the day. Most operators working in this region can’t do any of that.

How I work

I’d rather have a conversation about what you’re trying to show than take an order for a set number of photos. Half the time the useful shot isn’t the one that was asked for.

Everything is shot, edited and delivered by me. Edited files come back in 48 to 72 hours.

I work aerial and ground. The drone is a tool I hold a licence for, not the whole business.
